Recruiting on the High Seas // Beau Carpenter

The news of a new commit sometime during the weekend over at RRS.com, but I decided to let it go until today.  In any event, OL Beau Carpenter has committed to your Red Raiders. Here are the vitals:

Beau Carpenter
Position: OT
Rivals Profile
Scout Profile
ESPN Profile 40 Grade
Ht: 6'7"
Wt: 245 lbs
Forty: 4.79
High School: Sulphur Springs (Sulphur Springs, TX)

LAJ's Don Williams talked with Carpenter's head coach, who he said will play left tackle in 2009:

"He’s done a terrific job for us,’’ Owens said. "He’s a big body that can run. At a 6-6 kid, we’ve got him at a high 4.7 or a low 4.8 in the 40.’’

Snip

"Every year he’s continued to improve and get better and stronger and more physical,’’ Owens said. "He’s bench pressing over 350 pounds. He’s a good-looking kid with a lot of upside. I feel like he’s going to have a great college career.’’

I heartily welcome Carpenter to Texas Tech, but there's just one thing that bothers me.  I'm not sure how reliable this is, but lots of high school athletes fill out profiles on takkle.com in the hopes of being recruited.  On the left side bar, Carpenter lists UT as his dream college and the Longhorns as his favorite school.  Granted, the last time that Carpenter logged in was in December, so I'm thinking that he just forgot about that this website even existed, but still . . .

Beau, we welcome you with open arms, but get this changed, and Git Your Guns Up!
