Nathan Stone: I had a DTN reader email me to ask that we, as a community, continue to send Nathan some good thoughts his way. I wish I had an update for you guys as to his status, but I keep thinking that if this was a truly serious situation (i.e. possible paralysis, spinal injury, etc.) that we would have heard about it right now. Take a minute, think about Nathan and send some good mojo his way.
Injury Update: LAJ's Don Williams has some updates on some of the injured players, although I know that Texas Tech does not disclose injuries. FS Cody Davis was held out of practice again, as was QB Taylor Potts, but DE Daniel Howard and C Shawn Byrnes did return to practice.
Bird Doesn't Like the QB Injuries: FWST's Dwain Price talks with LB Bront Bird, who doesn't like the rash of injuries to Big 12 quarterbacks, but has faith in QB Steven Sheffield:
"I feel bad for all these guys,'' Bird said. "I'm sure everybody will bounce back and make things happen.''
Snip
"Right now we've got a great guy (in Sheffield) that stepped in for us,'' Bird said. "That's all I'm concerned about.
"We got a guy that came in and stepped in and just put a lot of points on the board and looked pretty much unstoppable the last game.''
Crabtree Links: I always enjoy reading DMN's Rick Gosselin and he had some thoughts about Michael Crabtree making a smooth transition this year . . . just go check out Niners Nation for all of your Crabtree and San Francisco 49er news . . .
Kansas St. Wildcat Links: The KC Star's Kellis Robinett with a good Q & A with C Wade Weibert and looks at the effect that WR Lamark Brown has had at KSU . . .the Mercury's Joshua Kinder talks with LB Alex Hrebec . . . DT's Adam Coleman writes about QB Grant Gregory finally getting his chance in the spotlight . . . LAJ's Adam Zuvanich writes about outstanding SS Tysyn Hartman . . .
Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Missouri Tigers: I'm very much excited about this game and I've said from the beginning of the season that I think the Tigers are the team to beat in the Big 12 North this year. Regardless, I think this is going to be a tremendous game. Make sure and check out Rock M Nation and Corn Nation to follow tonight's game.
Big 12 Links: Oklahoma St. Cowboys WR Dez Bryant has been ruled ineligible for the season, but the infraction seems relatively minor as he hung out with Deion Sanders and then lied about it to the NCAA. Seems like a silly reason to impose a year long suspension and I'd guess that this won't last the entire year . . . SAEN's Mike Finger writes that the Big 12 South is falling short of dominance this year . . .
