Texas Tech Football:
The only feature article this morning is from FWST's Dwain Price who writes about the bye week for Texas Tech, the first since 2004. Here's your Captain, tracking down how to handle a bye week:
"When we had this bye week we called around to see different things and how folks approach it," Leach said. "And then there would be silence on the other end of the phone.
"They’d say, 'You haven’t had a bye week since 2004?’"
Ruffin McNeill says that they intend to utilize the bye week to get ready for conference play:
"I’m glad we’ve got [the bye week]," defensive coordinator Ruffin McNeill said. "Not for the rest period, but for a chance for us to practice our techniques, fundamentals and schemes and get ready to go to the next level.
"We’ll get a lot of work in, but we’ll be smart and give them some rest days."
Lots of other news and notes in Price's article, so go check it out.
BC's dedfischer takes a look back at the UMass game and has this interesting stat that goes back to 2005:
Since the beginning of the 2005 season, Leach is 25-3 (89.2%) when his RBs receive 20 or more touches in a game and Tech averages 45 points per game. When below the 20-touch number, his record is 5-9 (35.7%) and Tech averages 25 points per game. Right now, we’re averaging 26 touches for 205 yards and 46 points per game. We’re also 4-0. *Sidenote: Leach’s Big 12 Record is 10-3 (76.9%) and 4-7 (36.4%), respectively, under the 20-touch scenario.
