You know the drill, DTN's Community Projections and we go back to the defense today.
Up Next: Brandon Sesay
The Facts: The controversial and highly anticipated Brandon Sesay. At the College of Sequoias Sesay only played in 6 games in 2007, but had 28 tackles, 4.0 sacks and 7.0 tackles for a loss. Granted, this was against community college competition, but over a 12 game season, that's 56 tackles, 12.0 sacks and 21.0 tackles for a loss. Now as good as Sesay may be, it would be unbelievable for him to get those types of numbers. Brandon Williams, without question Texas Tech's best defensive end last year, finished with 41 tackles, 5.0 sacks and 11.5 tackles for a loss. So now we have to figure out where Sesay, the former Georgia Bulldog signee, fits in this picture.
What I Think: Sesay is going to be productive, I'm just not sure how productive he's going to be with all of the talent at defensive end (Jake Ratliff, Brandon Williams, Sandy Riley, Daniel Howard, McKinner Dixon, and Broderick Marshall). Either that or someone just isn't going to be playing as much as they would like. We know that Williams and Dixon will be alternating (I think they are going to be on the same side as of the end of the spring) which means that Sesay, Ratliff and Marshall fight for time at the other spot. I'm just guessing here, but I think that Sesay is one of those rare talents who I think shines almost immediately.
