Texas Tech Wednesday Morning Notes - A Little Ticked Off Edition

Double-T Nation News:

In no particular order, DTN's Top Eight:

  1. I'm not real sure what to say, but Uni Watch takes a look at the WFL and "position-based pants". You'll just have to trust me that this is a really crazy concept that quickly went away (rightfully so). Also linked is a wicked face mask from girls Iowa BB state tourney.
  2. I know that I shouldn't show favoritism, but son of a gun the Hawkeyes are on a roll. Dominique Douglas is wearing cash for a hat. No, really, he is.
  3. Barking Carnival asks why Dickie V gives the Horns no credit. Yes, I hate to admit it, but I'm a believer.
  4. Cal WR DeSean Jackson weighs 5 pounds more than me.
  5. Tony Kornheiser hates bloggers and Rock Top Talk takes him to task.
  6. Basketball Prospectus takes a look at the conferences heading into the NCAA tournament.
  7. This is just weird, Monta Ellis likes hot wax.
  8. Lone Star Ball, a Texas Rangers blog and daily read for me, is part of a media controversy.

Texas Tech Basketball:

DMN's Brandon George chronicles John Roberson's freshman year. PK on Roberson's progress thus far:

"You know the kid can put it in the bucket. He's proven that," Pat Knight said. "We have to get more assists than turnovers from him. He gets a little shaky with the ball like he's still playing in high school. He'll make some bad passes, and he just has to take care of the ball better."

Martin Zeno has high praise for Roberson:

"He's been very impressive with the way he's come on," Zeno said. "He's adjusted well throughout the year. His decision-making has gotten better since the beginning."

As does Voskuil:

"He is a really good shooter for being a point guard," Voskuil said. "I think he feels a lot more comfortable, and he's gotten better as the year has gone along."

PK notes the Roberson has got to quit the wild inside shots, but he's been good:

"He has to get away from the casual high school stuff," Pat Knight said. "He sometimes thinks he's going to get shots off that he got off last year or make some lazy passes.

"But he has solid numbers for a freshman in the Big 12. He's proven he can play at this level. I couldn't ask for a better freshman to build this program around."

LAJ's Jeff Walker previews today's game with TAMU and notes that the Red Raiders are aware that the Aggies are desperate. Here's PK:

"They're a team that's probably going to be a little (ticked) off," Knight said. "They lost three in a row. They're going to come out ready to play. I was hoping they might win one here, because now they're up against the wall a little bit and with that much talent, they're a very dangerous team and we've got to play them on their home court."

DMN's Chip Brown looks at the teams in the Big 12 conference who have a shot at the NCAA tournament, including Texas Tech. The Chron's Terrance Harris also notes that the race to a NCAA tournament birth is a game here or a game there.

Texas Tech Baseball:
