Texas Tech only loses four player to the MLB draft, unfortunately the biggest position lost is shortstop as SS Kelby Tomlinson and his replacement, SS Trey Ford both signed. Junior shortstop Kelby Tomlinson signed with the San Francisco Giants as a 12th round pick, senior infielder Nick Popescu signed with the Braves (33rd Round), left-handed pitcher Zach Fowler (34th Round) signed a deal with the Baltimore Orioles and left-handed free agent Robbie Kilcrease signed a free agent contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates. One Texas Tech signee, shortstop/third baseman Trey Ford - from South Mountain CC, signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in the 14th round. "
