Texas Tech Football LAJ's Don Williams | McCutchen, Carlen-era Tech standout, dies at 61 Amarillo.com's Lance Lahnert | Castleman headed to Oklahoma State (Losing Castleman hurts really bad and I'd guess that at this point players are going to flip a bit. Let's hope that it's not too much.) ESPN's Corey Long | With national signing day (Feb. 2) around the corner, here is a breakdown of how things are looking in the Big 12. (Lots of notes about each school, along with some possible visits for Texas Tech.) Rivals.com | Linebackers Continue As Mystery Position (Lots of tidbits on players interested in or committed to Texas Tech: Branden Jackson, La'Raven Clark and Marcus Roberson.) 24/7's Gerry Hamilton | Who's on top in the Big 12 South? (Another good overview for the Big 12 South teams and who 24/7 thinks is the top prospect, top position and sleeper.) TE Jace Amaro | (When I did Amaro's profile back in April of 2010, when Amaro committed, I didn't have any film on him. Problem solved. In this YouTube clip, Amaro is the one hurdling and out-running defenders to a touchdown. Rivals had some film on Amaro, at the 1:15 mark, and he's the one catching the fade pass for a touchdown. And ESPN has extensive footage of Amaro, including Amaro blocking, not just catching passes.) Texas Tech Basketball Texas Tech | Last Second Shot Gives Texas Tech the Win Over Nebraska, 72-71 LAJ's Courtney Linehan | Roberson leads Raiders past Nebraska for first conference victory DMN's Mike Graham | Five storylines from Texas Tech's big 72-71 win against Nebraska KAMC | Tech Ends Skid, Beats Nebraska (Excellent bit of highlights, including D`walyn Roberts' tip-in for the win and head football coach Tommy Tuberville addressing the crowd at halftime, talking championships and wearing an incredibly sweet black leather jacket.) Texas Tech Football LAJ's Terry Greenberg | Graham tour: Harrell’s path winds through Canada, Cleveland Lady Raider Basketball Texas Tech | Texas Tech Falls To No. 1 Baylor, 64-51 LAJ's David Just | Baylor comes from behind to win physical matchup Texas Tech Track Texas Tech | Weygandt Soars to New Heights in the Pole Vault (I know I don't normally cover track, but Shade Weygandt broke a world record as she cleared the highest mark by an American female under the age of 20 with her 4.40M/14'-5.25". There's video of that jump here.) I didn't get to watch last night's game. The ESPN3 feed kept stopping and I got frustrated so I stopped watching. Exciting win for the team and I'm happy for the players. I mentioned after Sooner game that the team with Roberts on the floor, the team was better and he gives Texas Tech something that they don't have, which is a decent sized forward that likes to crash the boards. Up next is Iowa St. in Ames.

Texas Tech Football Texas Tech | Glasgow, Mounds Complete Texas Tech Coaching Staff LAJ's Don Williams | Tech officially hires Glasgow, promotes Mounds to cornerbacks coach Team Speed Kills' Year2 | The Key Numbers and Terms in Recruiting Texas Tech Basketball LAJ's Courtney Linehan | Tech men’s basketball needs some sense of urgency Texas Tech Baseball LAJ's George Watson | Tech's von Schamman out 6-8 weeks with broken hand Texas Tech Stuff Williams & Hyatt Show's Ryan Hyatt | 5 Things We Know On A Friday: 1/21/11. (Interesting that Hyatt says that there will be significant news and movement over the next 7 to 10 days regarding the search for a new athletic director and the first hire by the new athletic director WILL be a new men's basketball coach. Interesting.) Leach Stuff Marketwire | Statement by Attorneys for Mike Leach, Former Head Coach of Texas Tech Football Team, Regarding Recent Appellate Court Ruling LAJ's Don Williams | Leach unlikely to shine as brightly as at Tech LAJ's Logan Carver | Two attorneys believe Leach out of gas in Tech legal fight LAJ's Adam Zuvanich | Students have mixed reactions to Leach legal development LAJ's Matthew McGowan | Appellate court deals major blow to Leach in Tech case I still haven't had the time to read the appellate court's decision regarding Leach and when I do, I still don't know that I'll understand it. This just isn't my area of law to give much of a meaningful opinion. Obviously, the sovereign immunity defense is a powerful defense and gives a state entity a lot of leeway as to how they are able to treat employees. Even from the beginning of this ordeal, I thought that Texas Tech didn't follow due process for Leach to have the ability to go through the administrative process. I didn't imagine that the appellate court would use that argument against Leach. I've also always thought that no matter what, the process would play itself out in the courts or in front of a jury and I still believe that. I know that for a lot of you, there's the thought that no matter what the courts say what happened still doesn't feel right. It doesn't pass the "smell test". I know that this isn't a tremendous legal opinion, this is just me speaking as a person. We'll see where this ends up going and personally I don't have a clue as to what happens next, but in the meantime, don't forget that the men's basketball team plays this evening at 6:30.

Texas Tech Basketball Texas Tech | Texas Tech Falls To No. 21 Kansas St., 94-60 (The boxscore and post game quotes are available at this link. I don't have the passion to do a write-up other than the rebounds was 44 to 18 in favor of K-State and K-State shot 53% from the floor. Seriously.) LAJ's Courtney Linehan | Red Raiders lose in another blowout DT's Tommy Magelssen | Tech blown out on the road, 94-60 Texas Tech Football LAJ's Don Williams | Tech sets spring practice schedule LAJ | Crabtree, Batch among Lubbock gala honorees Lady Raiders Basketball LAJ's David Just | Lady Raiders rally for double overtime victory vs. Kansas State

Texas Tech Football Baron Batch | haiti part2 (now that you have seen...) | Diary 20 (the dangerous comfort zone) | Haiti kids prints (I know, I'm nothing but a shill for Batch, but I can promise you, he's not paying me a dime. Last week, after Batch's last football game, he took a mission trip to Haiti and took some incredible pictures. He's selling those pictures and the proceeds will be going to give some orphan children in Haiti an opportunity to receive an education. There's 3 links here, the first are some photos, the second is his diary from the Northwestern game and going to Haiti and the third is how you can buy a print and help.) Texas Tech | Potts, Duncan Selected for Texas vs. the Nation Game (Congrats to QB Taylor Potts and LB Brian Duncan!) ESPN's David Ubben | Tuberville at work finding a new coordinator (Thanks to Arizona Raider for the FanShot on this and as far as I'm concerned, I'm fine with Tuberville taking his time. He can't afford a bad hire and he has to find someone that's going to be in Lubbock for at least 2 or 3 years.) Yahoo! Sports | Texas Tech Team Report (I think this is actually RRS.com's work. The one thing I didn't know was that S Cody Davis fractured his hand during the game and then returned to play.) Recruiting Stuff | While searching Google News this morning, I found some things on possible commits: Florida DB Roderick Ryles has Texas Tech as one of his final 3; with Todd Graham going to Pittsburgh, there may be some Tulsa commits that may now look at Texas Tech; and Florida ATH Frankie Williams is also considering Texas Tech and has a visit coming up this Friday. I've got post game thoughts on last night's embarrassing effort last night scheduled for later this morning as well as some super-exclusive and premium content and video on Texas Tech's newest football commitment, DT Dennell Wesley.

Texas Tech Football Brenham-Banner Press Richard Bray | Edwards signs with Texas Tech (Sounds like Edwards is official and it sounds like that Michael Brewer was a big part of Edwards committing to Texas Tech.) ESPN's Jackie MacMullan | Wes Welker's boundless resiliency (Wes goes with the un-buttoned second button for all of the ladies out there.) Texas Tech Basketball FWST's Mike Jones | Surprises start early in Big 12 (Don't forget that Texas Tech takes on UT on Tuesday! Good times.) I've somehow injured my knee while jogging and last night I couldn't sleep (I'll try to see a doctor today). Luckily for you, this means that I got up really early and later this morning you'll get the play-charting post I've been promising for two weeks.

LAJ's Terry Greenberg | Slow start, poor finish cost Red Raiders chance to defeat Baylor in Big 12 Conference opener DMN's Mike Graham | Five things to take from Texas Tech's 71-59 loss against Baylor Texas Tech Football Amarillo.com's Dave Henry | WT wide receiver Williams transfers to Tech (Thanks to TallMike for the FanPost, this appears to be official confirmation.) DFW Varsity | Arlington Sam Houston offensive tackle Tony Morales played in what amounted to a half in the revolving rotation customary for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday at the Alamodome. I don't know that I'll get to post-game thoughts on yesterday's Baylor game, but this game is all too similar to what we've seen lately, which is at the very least Texas Tech competed, but just didn't have enough to finish the game.
