Heading into the 2018 season, this Red Raider offense brings back six starters from last year, five of those being the entire offensive line. The second highest ranked of the three on our countdown is left tackle Travis Bruffy. Bruffy is going to be the blindside protector of whoever steps on the field at quarterback and boy will they be glad. Bruffy is one of the best lineman on this team and in the Big 12.
Bruffy has not only started at left tackle for the Red Raiders, but played tight end his freshman year, playing in 12 games as either the team’s main tight end for heavy formations and as a backup tackle. He even caught a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes against Oklahoma State in 2016. His athleticism is one of the things that makes him a great lineman for this team.
Bruffy earned the starting spot at left tackle last season but was out for the first two games due to an illness that caused him to lose a ton of weight. Bruffy then started at left tackle in all of the 11 games he played in last season. He will be the anchor of the left side of the line and he, along with left guard Madison Ankamnonu, will make a formidable duo.
This offensive line helped average 40 more yards per game than the season before. Now that this line is returning all five starters including no. 13 on our countdown, this offense is primed to rely on the running game while the new quarterback, whoever it may be, gets acclimated to the offense.
It starts with us up front.
