Every Tuesday during the season, we will put out our Big 12 Power Poll. I am not changing my rankings this week. Saturday's games weren't too telling. I said on the podcast that before the season started most folks, including myself, thought the Big 12 was a two horse race. After two weeks, I am not sure that is the case anymore. I think there are five or six teams that could possibly win the Big 12. I think the eventual champ will have at least one loss because every team has a weakness or two that will lead to at least one loss.
- Baylor (won 66-31 vs Lamar) - I still keep them ahead of TCU even though they again struggled through the first half versus a weaker opponent. They are going to have to get better on defense and better quarterback play to win the Big 12. They are off this week.
- TCU (won 70-7 vs Stephen F. Austin) - The Frogs got some things worked out on Saturday as they whooped up on the Lumberjacks. Boykin looked much better tossing four touchdowns. The Iron Skillet is on the line when they play SMU this week. I don't think we will find out much about them this week but we will have a common opponent to measure them against Baylor.
- OU (won 31-24 vs Tennessee) - The Sooners turned around an ugly first half to win a heck of a game. The Sooners came back from down 17-0 to win in double overtime. They will need to be consistent to continue winning week in and week out. They play Tulsa this week.
- West Virginia (won 41-17 vs Liberty) - The Mountaineers beat another weakling this week. There isn't much more to say about this game. They are off this week.
- Kansas State (won 30-3 vs UTSA) - I watched some of this game. It was classic Snyder-ball. They slowed the game down, played good defense and didn't make mistakes. The Wildcats play Louisiana Tech this week.
- Oklahoma State (won 32-8 vs Central Arkansas) - Oklahoma State didn't struggle, but didn't dominate Central Arkansas. They put up 578 yards, but only turned that into 32 points and were only up 10-0 at half. They get UTSA next week.
- Texas Tech (won 69-20 vs UTEP) - Well things are about to get interesting for the Red Raiders. They looked like a complete team this game. The offense continued to roll while the defense looked improved. With Arkansas losing to Toledo, lots of Red Raider fans are feeling better about their chances in this game. Even with the loss to Toledo, Arkansas is the first test of the year for the Red Raiders.
- Texas (won 42-28 vs Rice) - They beat Rice with two special teams touchdowns and 267 yards of offense. They gave up 462 yards to the Owls. Not a stellar performance, but it looks like they will roll with Heard at quarterback moving forward. He looks like maybe he has a little something. The Longhorns face the Cal Bears at home this week. I predict a loss for the Horns.
- Iowa State (lost 31-17 vs Iowa) - They jumped out to a lead versus their in-state rival, but couldn't score in the second half while the Hawkeyes scored three touchdowns. They play Toledo this week.
- Kansas (lost 55-23 vs Memphis) - Another game, another Jayhawk loss. I guarantee they will not lose this week because they do not play this week.
