As an aside, I'll have a separate post up on the Bethel/Battle situation later today.
Podcasting. Hey, I did my yearly podcast with EMAWdio and had a great time with Grant Thome talking baseball, men's basketball and football. I'm sure that I messed on a couple of things, but it is about an hour conversation and I was Grant's very first guest when he started podcasting many moons ago. Check it out!
Big 12 Media Preseason Team. Texas Tech's mortal enemy (rather than immoral enemy) David Ubben must have gotten to the rest of the Big 12 media and Le'Raven Clark was the only player that was selected to be part of the Big 12 Media Preseason Football Team. /shakes fists at Ubben/
Beckie Named to Canadian Under 20 Team. Congrats to Janine Beckie for being named to the Canadian Under 20 National Team! For some reason, I thought Beckie was from the US, maybe living in Colorado, but I guess she was born in Canada. Good for her!
Paul Leaves Program. Redshirt freshman CB Dee Paul has left the program and will transfer to Tarleton State, first reported by Chris Level. There was talk that Paul would play early, but I think it would be easy to say that there were maybe some maturity issues. He is talented, very talented, but I get the feeling that those maturity issues were significant. I mentioned this last week, which is that I am either the worst blogger ever because I don't follow any current players on Twitter or I'm the best blogger ever. Paul apparently tweeted this information out two days ago, about dropping classes. If I was on top of my stuff, I could have hinted to it then. Oh well, at least you don't have to pay me to be mediocre.
Webb to O'Brien Watch List. Congrats to QB Davis Webb for being named to the Davey O'Brien Watch List!
Stidham Receives 5th Star from 24/7. Congrats to Jarrett Stidham for receiving a 5th star from 24/7 Sports. That's two of four services that have him as a 5-star quarterback.
January in the CFL. I forgot that Glenn January was one of the other players playing in the CFL (which is on tonight by the way) with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and they're about to face the Edmonton Eskimos:
"I don't think very many people did, but it's just a testament to what both clubs have been able to accomplish in the off-season," Bombers veteran left tackle Glenn January said. "I think we both decided that some serious changes needed to be made and you're seeing that on the field."
