Hey everyone! Well, we've got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that I'm finally ready to start giving away the beautiful and award winning (they've never won any awards) Viva The Matador koozies. As I am sure most of you are aware, I was going to sell these bad boys, but our buddies over at Texas Tech had some issues with VTM selling some t-shirts and since I really don't want to get involved in any sort of lawsuit or have them make a demand for any sort of payment, I'm just going to give them away. And if anyone is mad, I have no idea who or where to direct your ire (if you have any), so just let it go because we're all going to be okay.
I was thinking about the best way to give these away and figured out that I'd just have you all fill out a form and you may have one or two koozies. First come, first serve. Because Texas Tech thinks they own the color red and black, I may not be ordering any more because I really could have used that extra $300.00 I spent on purchasing them.
Here's the catch . . . it is on the honor system. What I want you to do is to give $5 if you want one kooize or $10 if you want two koozies to any charity you want. Again, it's the honor system, so I'm just going to trust you to do the right thing. As far as actual charities, I have two that I think are really worthwhile, one is local and one is wordwide. Here's the local charity.
Big Brothers Big Sisters
3416 Knoxville Avenue
Lubbock, Texas 79413
There is no online place to give, so you'll have to write them a check and send them some money and make sure and tell them that VTM gave you a free kooize and so you're giving them some money.
The other one is Doctors Without Borders. I saw this video over the weekend and I was moved. Africa is truly a beautiful place. It is wild and completely different than anything you've seen (unless you've been to Africa). It's also sometimes a place of chaos and the Ebola virus is a deadly awful disease that is wreaking havoc on that beautiful continent.
Those are just two options, but I'm totally leaving that up to you as to where you want to make a donation. It can be an extra $5 or $10 to your church or other local charity. You can always give more, but I'm just asking that you give $5 or $10. Just give to someone or something that needs some help.
And yes, I am asking for your information, so if you don't want to give me your personal information, then don't complete the form. And I'll get to mailing them out as I have time.
AND PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE A COMMENT WITH YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION BECAUSE I AM ONLY GOING TO BE USING THOSE FOLKS THAT USE THE FORM, NOT COMMENTS. SO, AGAIN, DON'T LEAVE A COMMENT WITH YOUR HOME ADDRESS BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT GET A KOOZIE IF YOU DO THIS. ALSO, TO ANY FACEBOOK FOLKS, THE SAME THING APPLIES. YOU HAVE TO LEAVE A COMMENT ON VTM NOT ON FACEBOOK. I'M SORRY FOR YELLING, BUT SOMETIMES PEOPLE DON'T READ THINGS UNLESS YOU PUT IT IN ALL CAPS AND IN BOLD.
ONE MORE THING THAT NEEDS TO BE IN ALL CAPS!!!! OBVIOUSLY, THERE JUST AREN'T ENOUGH KOOZIES FOR THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT WILL MOST LIKELY LEAVE THEIR INFORMATION. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO WAIT UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY RECEIVER YOUR KOOZIE(S) THEN THAT'S TOTALLY COOL BY ME AND COMPLETELY UNDERSTANDABLE.
I will try to mail as many as I can, so don't get frustrated if your koozie doesn't arrive in 2 days or 3 days or maybe even a bit more. And I have about 200 total to give away (I bought 250, but will be giving 50 or so to family and friends and VTM staff folks). If everyone just takes 1, then there will be more to go around, but this is your choice.
Let's do this.
