......

The Lady Raiders (6-10, 0-5), head to Stillwater, OK today to go up against the #11 Oklahoma State Cowgirls (15-1, 4-1) at the Gallagher-Iba Arena at 12:00pm CST.   This game will be the 53rd meeting between the Lady Raiders and the Cowgirls.

Tech leads the series 32-20. The Lady Raiders will have their hands full in this road game against the OSU Cowgirls. The Lady Raiders have not won a Big12 Conference game yet and they will have to play a hard fought game if they are to pull the upset in Stillwater.  Tech's game, on Tuesday, Jan 14th, against Kansas State was the sixth loss in a row and a standard reflection of the games played this season.  The Lady Raiders keep having these time-spans in each game where their shooting goes cold.  The droughts last an average of 7 minutes in the first half and about 3 minutes in the second.  Against teams like the OSU Cowgirls, the Lady Raiders have to make every attempt on the basket count.  The Defense for this team has been lacking as well.  Tech has not been aggressive on the boards and has allowed teams to steal the ball to many times.  K-State got seven Steals against Tech and they were able to make eight points off Turnovers. Tech needs to get more aggressive under the basket, they may have a height disadvantage against a lot of the teams they will play, but the Wildcats scored 20 points-in-the-paint compared to Tech's eight. I have probably said it in every one of the game  previews but Amber Battle cannot do it on her own.  Some of the other players on this Lady Raiders team have to step up their game if they are to pull out a few wins this season.

The Oklahoma State Cowgirls are ranked 11th in the country and have only one loss. Their loss was against West Virginia on Jan 4th.  There might be some weaknesses in the Cowgirls team as their pre-Conference schedule was weak and they dominated those teams but did have some close games. the Cowgirls are at the top of the Big12 Conference in Scoring and defending.  They are great 3-pt shooters and their defense knows how to stop the threes against their opponents. They are aggressive on the rebounds but surprisingly they are at the bottom in Blocks.

The Cowgirls' Head Coach, Jim Littell is in his 3rd season with the OSU. His career record is 58-24 He was an assistant coach with the program for 6 years prior to being named the head coach two years ago. He spent 14 seasons as the HC at Seward County Kansas Community College, compiling a record of 418-61.
