It's a short week, everything is going to be sped up a bit. We'll keep to our schedule except that SARR and I will get our weekly conversation up on Thursday along with Iconography. We'll also be doing a Q&A with Frogs O' War at some point this week. I also have to update this twitter with the two new writers.

LINKS | These are your morning links:

  • The official site has their game preview with their PDF versions of notes, along with TCU's PDF notes. I don't know if there is much to really see here, especially since the depth chart won't be updated for the rest of the year.
  • The LAJ has a good breakdown of which freshmen have had their redshirts removed, which includes QB Davis Webb, C Baylen Brown and IR Dylan Cantrell getting their first playing time of the year against SFA. The freshmen that played against SMU:
Tech used six true freshmen in the season opener at SMU: Mayfield, slot receiver Carlos Thompson, defensive end Zach Barnes, middle linebacker Malik Jenkins and defensive backs Tanner Jacobson and Dee Paul.
As far as the number of redshirts removed, I'm not sure what to think other than I do believe that they want to keep those redshirts on all of the other offensive linemen and I don't think this is an indication of the talent already on the field or anything like that. I'll try to be pretty consistent here, which is that I didn't have a problem with TE Jace Amaro having his redshirt removed and I don't have a problem with these redshirts being removed because either way, he could declare for the NFL draft, which is where I think he's headed.

Experience, even if it is minimal, can help a player. Most likely, these players won't play all that much, but if they don't even sniff game action, they won't be prepared. The game is faster. It just is. No practice or anything else can prepare you for that. If there are injuries, then some of these guys could play, but I think the key for most of these players was to start to get them acclimated.
  • The LAJ also has their five key developments from the game, so go check it out.
