Wednesday Morning Links at Viva The Matadors | 2013-05-08

Morning links: odds and ends, track and field, baseball, men's basketball and football.

Odds and Ends

Don't forget to buy tickets for the San Antonio Tailgate Tour on May 21st where you can see Kliff Kingsbury, Tubby Smith, Kristy Curry and Tom Stone. This is going to sound a bit strange, but I've heard that Stone is a fantastic speaker and person and that's why his soccer program has vaulted to national prominence.

TTURed at Totally Texas Tech has some fantastic photos of construction of the Burkhart Center of Autism building, Petroleum Engineering building and Jones AT&T stadium scoreboard.

Track and Field

I still don't really understand track rankings, but the track teams move into the top 15 of the national rankings.

Baseball

The baseball team got a mid-week win against Dallas Baptist yesterday afternoon, 7-2. The LAJ recaps the win.

Men's Basketball

RP has a good article on how Texas Tech's Tubby Smith has a lot of possibilities for JUCO recruiting in West Texas and I think this is right. There are a ton of players from the JUCO ranks in the area and it has really been something that has largely been ignored by Texas Tech coaches. There have been some players, but not in comparison to the overall number of potential players in West Texas JUCO's.

Football

Per the DMN, Texas Tech has their 11th commitment of the 2014 recruiting class. Profile is forthcoming.

The DMN has a slideshow about Texas Tech's key questions, but I hate slideshows so I didn't read this.

RRS has a spring recap of Iowa St.
