Possible Red Raiders III

What's up Raider Nation?

Summer time is here, which means kids are out of school (Graduation!!!) and the summer camps begin for colleges. Every year I try to go to the beach with my family down in lower Alabama in Orange Beach, a nice town with good food, fishing and souvenir shops. If any of y'all get a chance to go down there, check it out, it's a neat vacation spot. Now on the Tech....

Marvin Saunders - TE (FB) / SF (BB) - (The Kinkaid School, Houston, TX)

Measurables - 6'6", 220 lbs, Tight End, 91 by 247 / NR by ESPN / 5.7 by Rivals

Small Forward - 88 by 247 / 79 by ESPN / 3-stars by Rivals

Interesting recruit here, as he's highly ranked in both football and basketball, don't know if he'll do both sports in college or just one. In football, this kid has huge size and crazy power, along with massive hands that snatches the ball out of the air. Looks like he's the incredible hulk facing those HS CBs. He has descent speed and has everything you look for in a TE. My guess is if he picks Tech, he'll be the replacement for Amaro once he leaves (for NFL or getting in trouble with his attitude). He, however, a project being his first year of playing football. I can't find a lot of film for him in basketball (hudl doesn't work at school for me), so I'm not going to say a lot about his basketball game. He seems like a small/power forward combination with his size and post game though.

Right now, Tech is warm with Saunders, with OU, FSU, Ohio State and A&M also drawing interest.

Austin Schlottmann - OT (Brenham HS, Brenham, TX)

Measurables - 6'5" , 295 lbs, Offensive Tackle, 80 by 247 / NR by ESPN / 5.4 by Rivals

This kid lights it up! Knocking people's blocks off in the at the line of scrimmage. This kid has a huge frame and I think could be a hidden talent. He seems to make every black, weather it's a big D-linemen or a linebacker. This is something Tech could really use in the future if the Ty Barrett/Connor Mayes plan doesn't work out the way we want. I would watch this recruit over the next year to see if he rises.

Right now we're in the lead, with Baylor and Texas A&M right behind us.

Christian Sam - OLB (Allen HS, Allen, TX)

Measurables - 6'1" , 202 lbs, Outside Linebackers, rated 89 by 247 / NR by ESPN / 5.7 by Rivals

I'm really exited for this kid. He has everything that I want in an OLB; speed, strength and height. His film is impressive and show his different assets. I didn't see a lot of coverage in his film, which makes me think he's more of a pass rusher and run blacker than a coverage linebacker. Anyway, the kid looks raw and has the ability to do a lot at Tech. We offered Sam back in mid February and he visited two weeks later, and now he wants to visit again. He's attracted to the live coaching staff that Tech has, which is keeping Tech in the running. The reason why I picked him this week is that he will be deciding where he wants to go soon.

Right now, OU has a slight lead with us the Ole Miss right behind, but don't count us out yet.

Connor Mayes - OC (Van Alstyne HS, Van Alstyne, TX)

Measurables - 6'5" , 320 lbs, Center / Defensive Tackle/ Full Back, rated 86 by 247 / NR by ESPN / 5.6 by rivals

This giant ginger is big huge center out of "I don't know how to pronounce this sh!t" texas. Kid is obviously a big player, and acts like one too, just pushing down and dominating guys on both sides of the ball. Looks like I'm watching the blind side in negative. No wonder powerhouses are going after him, including schools like OU, LSU, and those damn aggies. Connor will be releasing his top 6 schools tonight at 7pm, and Tech looks like they will make it. They offered him back in February and just visited him on Wednesday. If Tech keeps on pushing for him, this Giant Ginger is ours.

Right now, Minnesota (that's odd) is in the lead, with us, OU and TCU right behind.
