STATS | According to the Chicago Tribune, averaged 10.7 points and 6.7 rebounds this season for Seton, but there are other articles that say Foster averaged 14 points a game and 10 boards.
THE PLAYER SPEAKS | From the same Chicago Tribune article linked above, here is Foster on his new head coach, Tubby Smith:
"I think I have a good comfort level with Coach Smith, and he’s a good coach," Foster said. "All these players respect him, and he still talks to all his former players. We've just got a good relationship."
Foster also about Texas Tech as a fit for him:
"It was a same situation like Minnesota, but way warmer," Foster said, laughing. "The conference is great, and it’s just a good fit for me, and I still felt the same way with Coach Smith as before."
VTM user FortyYearCatFan also pointed us in the direction of a site called Illinois Prep Bulls Eye that mentions that one of the reasons why Foster committed is the work of Vince Taylor, a former assistant coach at Minnesota who they think will be following Smith to Texas Tech.
SCOUTING REPORT | Right now, Foster definitely seems like a Jaye Crockett starter-kit. Both long and lean and a majority of points in the inside during the high school careers. The word is that Foster does have a good mid-range game, but that's tough to tell in his highlight videos. I'm guessing that even if he doesn't have one, that's fine for right now. It is something that he can develop and I'm more than happy having him inside.
Foster can run the floor and a lot of his points seem to be offensive rebounds and tip-ins off of missed shots. That's perfect for this team. Truthfully, I think that having a scrapper inside is one of the things that this team needs, in addition to some more outside shooting.
Alex, welcome to Texas Tech and Git Your Guns Up!
The 2013 Class | I think that this might be it.
