A friend of mine who is related to and knows several players on the team told me some disconcerting information about the future of Michael Brewer as a Red Raider. He basically said that Brewer has resigned himself to transferring after this year, and sitting out next year somewhere else to let his back heal completely. Supposedly he has decided that he will not be able to hold down the starting spot because of the amount of playing time that the two freshmen got this year.
While I love the upside of Baker Mayfield, especially if he can remedy his ball security issues, and see the potential of Webb, this information was especially disappointing to me because I have followed Michael Brewer since Lake Travis and thought that he had the makeup to supplant Graham Harrell as our most decorated QB. I don't want to believe that this information is true, however, I can see how it could be concerning how this season has played out so far for Michael.
Do you think that Michael Brewer could potentially start the Texas game for us, and if so do you think that it might be enough to keep him here at Tech? If we lose him, I feel confident that Mayfield could be an excellent player for us with more coaching, and Patrick Mahomes looks like a great catch also. Its just sad that one injury could derail such a promising career.
