Mid Week Soccer Review

My weekly state of soccer for this week. The #18 Red Raiders are coming off an extended break to finish the last 3 Big 12 games at the John Walker Soccer Complex. KU did help our standings by beating Baylor last weekend.

Up first is KU on Oct. 25. KU (Big 12 1-3-1) comes in after beating Baylor. KU does have a the ability to come in and make the plays needed as seen in the Baylor game. The KU defense was able to hold Baylor to no points with BU having 8 shots on goal. It will be imperative for the Red Raiders to come out fast, strong and put the first point on the board.

#9 WVU (Big 12 6-0-0) will be facing off against the Red Raiders on Oct. 27. I have to believe this will be the strongest match the Red Raiders have faced this season in Big 12 play. WVU has been here before and are on 8 match win streak with their last loss being Sept. 15. Again it is imperative that the team comes out, keeps WVU on our side of the field with defense and let our strikers score first.

This weeks poll numbers used are from the NSCAA which is fairly similar to the USA Coaches poll for football. There has been no movement for TTU or WVU in the two other poll numbers at Top Drawer Soccer and College Sports Madness. The College Sports Bracketology has no movement either for the week of Oct 21.

Big 12 just posted this video today and it is awesome to hear our Sr. Goalie Victoria Esson. She will be missed but I feel sure Coach Stone has the next one up. See it at the Big 12 Soccer Page

I also found some great videos on some of the Freshman that are playing this year. One that has stood out to me thus far is Maddy Crabtree. I will start with her and share each one in my following write ups.

Coach Stone is with Brandon Rawe today and should have a new Rolling with Stone video coming out this week. I will also post this in next weeks article if available. I will also have the last Big 12 match against Texas playing on Nov. 1 in next weeks article.

For those fans staying in Lubbock this week, please go out and support the Red Raider Soccer Team as they round out their season. Definitely need to be loud and proud on Sunday when they take on WVU.
