Let's talk a little about Red Raider Soccer

I have a love for soccer and have been sending some links to Seth when I come across them. In an effort to help Seth out because he is one busy dude, we talked about me doing a little soccer write up. Forgive me for any mess ups on my first fan post. Rindworld, this one is for you and if I miss anything let me know.

What a phenomenal start for our ladies shooting for the goal. I knew Coach Stone had developed a team on the upswing last season and it has definitely carried over into this season. Your Red Raiders are currently sitting 15th in the country with an astounding record of 12-1-1 and currently sitting in 3rd place with a 2-0-1 record in the Big 12 standings with key games remaining on the schedule. I believe it will be a race to the finish with Texas Tech, West Virginia, and Baylor being the top 3 soccer teams in the Big 12. I will get into some amazing stats so hang with me.

First a big shout out to Caity Heap as the college madness link Big 12 soccer player of the week. Also from college madness is their weekly bracketology link and have the Red Raiders as the 3rd seed in our bracket. If we can carry that to the finish of Big 12 play or move up then hopefully John Walker Soccer Complex will be hosting some first round soccer games and that will give us home field advantage.

Now to cover some amazing stats that are up to date as of last Sundays soccer match.

TTU is outscoring opponents 36-5 (that is not a misprint, the Ladies have held opponents to a total of 5 points this season).

TTU has the advantage on shots on goal at 254-93

Soph. Janine Beckie leads the way in scoring with 15 points and 49 shots on goal. She is followed by Soph. Caity Heap with 12 points and 20 shots on goal. The third leading scorer is Soph. Alli Murphy with 11 points and 26 shots on goal. NOTICE NOTICE NOTICE: the top three scoring players are SOPHOMORES. This team is chocked full of underclassmen. This bodes well for the future of TTU Soccer.

Official full stats from TTU Athletics are here

This weeks soccer games are on the road. The first match will be at Oklahoma (3-8-1 and 0-2-0 in Big 12) Friday night at 7pm and is scheduled to be televised on Fox Sports Oklahoma and Fox Sports Pacific. This game will hopefully be another shut out for the Red Raiders.

The second match has TTU traveling to Baylor (8-2-2 and 1-1-0 in Big 12) for a 1pm Sunday afternoon game. This game is also scheduled to be televised on FSN Southwest. If NFL games are boring or you don't watch NFL then switch over and watch the Ladies play. This is an intriguing match up and could give Baylor a chance to win. However, I don't see it happening unless this is a complete break down of what Coach Stone has been doing with this team.

Big 12 play wraps up Nov. 1 and the Big 12 Tournament begins in Kansas City Nov. 6th.

I hope I have not bored to many of you and I will try to do another write up middle of next week after this weekends road trip and preview next weeks game. If you want me to add anything else please just comment and I will try to add into next weeks post.
