So I'm not going to comment much on the developing BCG controversy since nobody really knows the true facts. But reading BIll Self's defense for BCG along with several of BCG's former players who are now in the NBA does reveal some telling words about how any team who goes 1-17 in conference play usually doesn't sing "Koom-Baya" the following season on any team without some form of tough love in practice.
I'll let you think what you want, but for me I'm still standing up for BCG and think people really should give the man a break since he is in the hospital. The facts have yet to be revealed, but I am glad ESPN finally made an article defending BCG instead of going on an unfair all-out assault to bury him much like they did to Mike Leach.
We as a fan-base need to remember that BCG quite possibly inherited probably one of the worst teams in the NCAA when Pat Knight left. The whole roster and the program itself needed a complete make-over. Tech's 1-17 conference record last season proved this.
Even if the players are going through "Navy Seal"-like training and are physically and mentally exhausted. They need to keep in the back of their minds that BCG is only doing this b/c he knows last season was utterly pathetic, and he is only doing what he was hired to do. Train this team better to create an overall better program for Texas Tech.
Attack or Defend the man's tactics. The choice is yours really. But at the very least, don't treat this situation like many people treated the Mike Leach situation by immediately burying the man. The last thing our Men's Basketball team needs right now is for their head coach to get fired for false allegations. Stay chill and wait until the facts get released.
That's all I ask.
