ODDS AND ENDS | William Faulkner wanted the text of The Sound and the Fury to have colored text, but it was not possible when he was alive. Not any more. Different colored text for different times/circumstances in the novel. Fantastic concept.
This is 45 minutes of your life, but I watched this over the weekend and I didn't think I wasted my time. Vice Magazine did a documentary on the rivalry between Glasgow's Celtic and Rangers football clubs (soccer to you and I). I often times do not understand hating a rival. I understand disliking a rival, but not hate. This is hate. This was fascinating.
SEASON IN REVIEW | The official site has put out a Season in Review, which is a lengthy PDF of everything that happened with every sport. I think this could be handy for future reference. I don't think I've seen this before.
BASEBALL | Congrats again to Jamodrick McGruder who was named the second team All-American by College Baseball Insider! The awards keep racking up for McGruder.
MEN'S BASKETBALL | Former Red Raider Mark Davis is wanting to make an impact at his home in Thibodaux, Louisiana and this was really good.
FOOTBALL | Pre-Snap Read's Paul Myerberg ranks all 120 or so teams prior to the season. This year Myerberg has Texas Tech at #61 and considering everything that's happened, that seems about right.
This is the time of year when I'll answer a lot of questions. College Football Zealots asked questions and I answered them about Texas Tech. I should mention that I've done two of these Q&A's and both times I have failed to even mention WR Bradley Marquez. Not even a mention. I need to get better at this. As an aside (this is already posted as a FanShot) the Odessa American Online checks in with Marquez as he plays summer ball for the New York Mets.
Turf Burner's Jay Beck has the win totals for six teams in the Big 12, but does not include Texas Tech. I'm not big on gambling, but is this because Vegas doesn't know what to think of Texas Tech and the swing in a win total is any where between 3 and 9?
The official site has details of the Women's Football Clinic, which is set for August 1st.
