DTN Daily Diatribe | Texas Tech News, Notes and Links | 2012-02-21

I've been sick the last few days and even went home yesterday to sleep for about 3 hours yesterday afternoon. I feel a heck of a lot better. I've got a football post that I had worked on over the weekend ready to go and I've scheduled for later this morning.

LADY RAIDER BASKETBALL | Don't forget that the Lady Raiders play Kansas tonight at the USA, tip-off at 7:00 pm. LAJ's David Just and DT's Chois Woodman preview this game and Texas Tech really needs to win this game this tonight, and that's the focus of both articles. This is from Woodman's article:

Curry said Tech is in a position where it has four games left in the regular season and it needs at least a few more wins to receive a NCAA Tournament bid.

The Lady Raiders can control their own destiny, Curry said.

"I don’t see it as pressure, I see it as opportunity," she said. "We’ve got a great opportunity and that’s what we’re blessed with right now. We’ve got the opportunity to go on a great run. I don’t see it as pressure. I think as a coach and a player these are the kind of moments and days that you practice for and prepare for. It’s 365 days a year that we live this, so it’s just a great opportunity."

RED RAIDER BASKETBALL | LAJ's Nick Kosmider takes a look at the Big 12 race, and I enjoyed this very much even though it doesn't involve Texas Tech really at all. I also wanted to point out an excellent Red Raider Weekly segment on PG Luke Adams:

Red Raider Weekly: The Headband and the Shooter (via techathletics)

TEXAS TECH BASEBALL | Williams & Hyatt Show's Ryan Hyatt talks with CF Barrett Barnes and I very much enjoyed listening to this interview.

LAJ George Watson has a blog post with some thoughts on opening weekend and Watson also has an article that I think probably ran in the paper. I enjoyed the blog post a lot more, lots of good stuff about the team so you should check that out for sure.
