Texas Tech Lady Raiders Off To a Hot Start!

The Texas Tech Lady Raiders are off to a hot start in 2012. The Lady Raider coming off Christmas break are 9-2 and have some key wins over some quality opponents. Texas Tech is unranked at 9-2 but if the Lady Raiders can keep winning you can expect them in the polls sometime soon.

The Lady Raiders have some quality wins that I am sure the NCAA tournament crew will look at when they make there selections for the post season tournament. Some of these quality wins are over the Arizona State Sun Devils, Lamar Cardinals, Illinois Fighting Illini, and the Oregon State Beavers. Illinois and Arizona State were away games and Oregon State was played this last weekend.

There are some other games on the Lady Raiders schedule in which they played strong opponents but came up short. In the second game of the season the Lady Raiders traveled to Albuquerque to face the Lobos. The Lady Raiders did come back in the final minutes but fell short 65-61. Then last weekend the Lady Raiders faced Michigan State. Michigan State was 10-1 on the year and this was definitely the Lady Raiders toughest game. The Lady Raiders gave MSU all they had and even took them into overtime. But, the Raiders fell short in the final seconds and lost to MSU 50-48.

Looking at the first part of the season and the 9-2 record the Lady Raiders have worked up I believe we are in for a treat in the second half. Big 12 Conference play is starting very soon and we gotta get pumped up and get behind this team.

Looking ahead at the next few games for the Lady Raiders. The Raiders will finish up non-conference play on Sunday v.s. the Houston Cougars. This games look's to be obtainable and would push the Lady Raiders to 10 wins on the year. After that game TTU will travel to 14th ranked OKST. This will be a true road test but I believe Kristy Curry and her team will be ready for whatever an team gives them.

If the Lady Raiders can keep pushing on defense, forcing turnovers, and scoring points I believe the Lady Raiders will avenge the semi-acceptable season that the Lady Raiders had last year losing to San Diego in the NIT Tournament. We will just have to wait and see, and I am for sure this second part of the season will be a treat. Until then, Guns Up!
