Proud to be a Red Raider

I have to share something with my fellow VTM's. I thought twice about posting this because I am certain the person whom is responsible for this incredibly kind gesture, did not do so to be recognized. Nevertheless, it is a testament to the spirit of a Red Raider. The other day while getting my daily VTM fix, I came across a posting from a fellow VTM stating they couldn't attend the Bowl game this year but had the desire to buy tickets for a member of VTM and their family. Not really expecting anything I responded "if no one takes you up, I'll raise my hand!!!" To my surprise, I got a response to contact Seth in order to facilitate an exchange of information.

That evening I spoke to my wife and told her about the offer... she responded "you Tech people are odd" (not the first time she tells me this) I gently and affectionately corrected her, "no, we Tech people are Family" Outsiders don't get the bond that is forged on those West Texas Plains, the only way to describe it is family. 12 years later, my best friends are all "Techies." I wouldn't have it any other way.

This morning I got a notification for the purchased tickets. In excitement, I immediately scurried to the Meineke Care Bowl web site and came across the seating assignments. My mouth dropped... I had no expectations. I'll just say it will be tough to find a better seat in the house. I am truly humbled by this generosity. Truly amazed! I will always remember this random act of kindness and will certainly pay this forward.

Many times we are doused in the bane of humanity; yet simple acts of kindness like this, restore my hope. I hope this holiday season we all take an opportunity to pay it forward. Show love and kindness, after all we are all family.

God Bless you all. And thank you kind sir for the tickets!
