My brother and I decided to take my dad to the Kansas game and make a long weekend out of it. We went to Ruby Tequila's tonight for Tuberville's weekly radio show with Chris Level. First, I'll say that Tubs is very charasmatic, personable, and likes to have fun. But, he was appropriately serious when it came to discussing the team or the game this weekend. I have to say that I was impressed. I know that doesn't equate to being a great coach on Saturdays but he acted like you would want your coach to act. Coach Walker and the entire basketball team was there and Level spent the last few minutes talking to him. The Saddle Tramps were there for some extra spirit in the room...leading the crowd through the Fight Song, Raider!-Power!, etc. We had a good time and I was impressed all the way around with the event.
Tomorrow we plan to hit some old haunts (Spanky's for lunch, etc.) and go to the basketball game. We'll be at the football game on Sat morning, of course, and contemplating the first ever NCAA Tournament game for the Lady Raider soccer team on Sat night.
I'll keep everyone posted on our day to day activities in Raiderland this weekend. I always enjoy first hand accounts in Lubbock, so I hope you enjoy mine over the next few days.
