I have spent a lot of time the past few years on here defending Tubs and the decisions he has made. I still LOVE much of what he has done and has built here. We now have a budding Defense that at times looks like it can be a powerhouse, we have gotten recruits at a level that has never been seen at Tech before. In that same light, he has also brought in some quality coaches (after some trial and error).

If I were just looking at these things I would say no question on keeping Tubs... At the beginning of the year I had us pegged at winning 8 games, and we are pretty close to that here so far. The thing that I am having the most trouble with is the FIGHT in our football team. We have confidence, and come out and play hard and fast, but Tubs just hasn't created that "fire" under their bellies when times get tough. To me this has become a MAJOR problem. There have been many losses so far in his tenure that could have easily been wins had the team just bucked up and showed some backbone in the face of adversity. Today, after thinking about it long and hard is the first day I have really looked at the fact that we no longer have that FIGHT that we used to have... the will to make a comeback when down 21 at half. Now adays we get back by 14 and you might as well let the scotch flow because it's not going to get much better anytime soon.

Now I still feel that Tubs is going to have at least 1 more year before he gets the boot, but IMO if that is the route we want to take, then we need to start pooling ideas of future coaches. If we dump Tubs before his contract is up, and he is still winning games we can kiss a proven coach goodbye. Honestly at this point I say Fudge it, lets go for Kingsbury.

I really hate the idea of dumping a coach before he gets to go out there with a team compiled of all his own recruits, to me that is always the true measure of the coach/staff. But after watching so many losses this year (even though they were to teams that "should" have won) where Tech just showed no fight... I may just have to concede that Tubs isn't the right fit for Tech afterall. Maybe a gutsy performance against Baylor and a good bowl game can change my mind, but I never thought I would see a day where I counted Tech out of the game after just 2 touchdowns.
