Soccer: 2OT game ..... but they don't advance.

The Red Raiders (16-6-1) will not advance in the NCAA Women's College Cup tournament after falling to the Florida State Seminoles (18-3-0) on Friday night in Tallahassee, FL.

Final Score: Texas Tech 2 Florida State 3

The Lady Red Raiders scored first at the 15 minute mark in the 1st Half and then fell behind with the Seminoles scoring 2 goals. One in the 1st half at the 40 minute mark and then again in the 2nd half at the 66 minute mark. Texas Tech tied the game with a goal at the 88th minute mark in the 2nd half. Both of the Red Raiders scores came from Forward Janine Beckie.

The match went into 2 Overtimes and the Seminoles got a sharp shot into the right corner that Goalie Victoria Esson was unable to stop.

Esson fought hard throughout the match as she has all season but the Seminoles just kept hammering away and then one slid by.

"The Seminoles battered the Red Raiders all game with 10 shots in the second half with only one making it past Esson"

"The Seminoles continued to batter Esson with shots throughout the final 20 minutes in search of an insurance goal they would later need."

Coach Stone and his staff and these Red Raiders had a wonderful ride this season. This season will just add more to this program. This program is moving along in leaps and bounds and becomes stronger each match and step it takes.

Congratulations to Coach Stone and the Lady Red Raiders Soccer team on a very successful season.

Thanks for representing Texas Tech so very well.

Continue to keep your Guns Up!!!

"I couldn't be more proud of our effort all year," Texas Tech head coach Tom Stone said. "This team set standards and records all season, and we went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the country tonight. They're effort was extraordinary."
