My Trip to Lubbock - Day 2

Well, today my dad, brother and I hit all of the old houses we used to live in, had lunch at Spanky's (the fried cheese is still the best in the world), and roamed around campus a bit. We actually went inside the football stadium as they had a gate open. We noticed several folks on the field so we saw another gate that led to the field and walked down. The new additions look really great from the field level. We took a few pictures, etc. We also went inside the practice field building where they have trophies and other cool stuff about the Ring of Honor players, etc. Very cool stuff. Can't wait for the game tomorrow.

We bought some Tech swag at Red Raider Outfitters across from the stadium. If they don't have it, they don't make it. I've never seen so much Tech stuff in one place. Picked up a sweet Tech sweatshirt for me, a t-shirt for the wife, and a couple of little key chain type things that my three girls can put on their backpacks for school (I had just bought them some shirts online).

We ended up at 50 Yard Line for dinner after all. It really hasn't changed a bit. I had a great ribeye. Brought back a lot of memories. We then went to the basketball game. Pretty damn good entertainment for $12 a ticket. We will be an improved squad but we are really young. Tolbert is a man among boys but we have some nice pieces along side him. It was fun to watch the up tempo style. It is definitely high risk, high reward. It worked against PV but not sure how it will go over in conference play. We don't have a strong offensive game. Lots of outside shots with little action inside or penetration. I'm sure we'll improve here as we had a couple of players that seem capable. I think the best thing about the team tonight was that they kept their composure when PV cut it from a 20 point lead to a 7 point lead. They made shots and stops when they needed to and finished off a game opponent.

It was a great day. Tomorrow we plan on hitting the Raider Walk at 8:30a since we have to wake up early for the early start anyway. We'll likely hit somewhere for a bloody mary or two before the game. We'll be about 10 rows up on the 50 yard line cheering for a Red Raider victory.

More tomorrow...thanks!
