All Greater Houston Track MVP to Tech

Mariam Amadu from Kingwood Park High (north Houston) recently won her third straight State Class 4A 300-meter hurdles championship (timed at 41.63 seconds). For her feats The Houston Chronicle named her their 2011 Greater-Houston Girl Track MVP. Jenny Dial interviews Amadu in this morning's paper, and among the questions put to Mariam is: "You chose to go to Texas Tech and compete next year. How did you decide on that school?" Amadu answers: "I liked Texas Tech because it was smaller classes and it was a smaller school than (Texas) A&M, which I also liked a lot. I just felt like I really fit in there. I want to major in Biology and be a medical examiner someday." Intelligent and talented--doesn't this have the elements of a great Tech recruiting campaign? Congrats to Miriam Amadu.
