Just a comment on Texas Tech basketball:
I am very happy that the Red raiders have been able to turn things around and establish a winning streak, even if it is just three games. Unfortunately, this may be as good as it will get, with a murder's row of games forthcoming. My brother and I were checking out the future schedule and it is evident that the Red Raiders, despite the current streak, evening their year's record and going to a 3-4 record in the tough (like, the toughest in the country tough) Big-XXII, are going to be very fortunate to eek out three more wins the rest of the way in the regular season of conference play. With nine games left, that would give them a 14-17 overall, 6-10 conference record. That will not get them into the NCAA's, unless they somehow win the conference playoffs, doubtful at best.
So, the Red Raiders of Texas Tech will finish their year at probably 14-18, maybe 15-18-again, not likely. This will, or should, lead to the removal,or resignation of Pat Knight from his head coaching position. While I am ready for a change, i must say that I think Knight has made some big strides this year, especially lately, to improve his capabilities as a college-level coach. When he does move on, I hope for the best, that he will be able to continue his career in a college environment leading another team to a better record than he was able to achieve here at Tech.
Meanwhile, here at Tech, I hope for a great hire of an impeccable AD who will in turn hire a viable basketball head coach who can coach the team to a better standing in the newly aligned conference. While I will cheer on the present team to win every game, I am excited about the future of the basketball team. They do have excellent players returning, with top-fite recruits committed. A more experienced coach will be able to lead them to victories of the type that has escaped the present group of players, for whatever reason. However this plays out, I will still be faithful to the Red Raiders and hope and cheer for victory at every turn. GO TECH!
