Graham Harrell

Why I am really rooting for him to get a ring.

Since 2000, I dont think anyone can argue that GH was the most successful QB we have had. I mean, Symons had his one year blast and such, but GH had a whole body of work that very few QB's in college would ever have. 2 Bowl MVP awards. Unitas Award. Sammy Baugh Trophy. Heisman Finalist. Beat 3 top 5 teams and numerous other ranked teams. The list goes on and on. But the reason I hope he wins, is because of all of the adversity he has had  to overcome.

Put yourself in GH's shoes. QB's went ahead of him that were a lot less successful are in the league, some of them starting. You work hard, deal with fans wanting you to be benched and getting boo'd (Mizzou in 2006) and face almost getting pasted in your first bowl game, but come back from all that to become one of the best QB's that college Football has ever seen. At least you are thinking, even with all this trash about being a product of the system, my stats and records speak for themselves. So you dont get drafted, get cut from the team that gives you a try-out, play Canada ball and get ridiculed for that, that doesnt work out, and get cut again, all the while you find out your dad has very debilitating disease and must give up his head coaching job at your own school and is going out of the country to get treatments. Your brother goes from D-I QB to not even starting D-II and have to be there to support little brother. Finally, your break comes but the best you get is non-dressing 3rd stringer, but with hard work and duty calling, you finally make the team, but it just happens to be playing for the Super Bowl, and you will get a ring if you win. The pinnacle of what every player plays for.

Harrell wont play a snap next sunday, but that doesnt matter. I believe that Graham has had so much thrown his way and so many disappointments that he has overcome, he keeps trucking and moving on. He is a personal inspiration to me, and all Tech fans should be proud of him, and for at least one day, be Packer fans, for Graham.
