Something's missing.....

When you're a Red Raider football fan, there are certain things that you learn to expect. 1. we are always the under acheiver; 2. we always have less talent; 3. we always accomplish more with less; and 4. for the past 10 years, our under-achieving, less talented players (on the offensive side of the ball) have been at the top of the heap in offensive production (yards and points) in all of college football. Certainly a lot of the credit must go to Mike Leach, but, Mike Leach did not throw or catch a single pass, he did not break a single tackle, and he did not call a single audible. Now don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying these things as a swipe at Tommy Tuberville. Because right now, I'm of the opinion that even if Mike Leach were still the head coach, the level of play that we're seeing on the field would be no different. Sorry, but that's just the way that I feel.

Why do I feel this way, well, it's because I don't see a single player that is able to transcend themselves like we have had the pleasure of having in past years. There are no over-achievers, we don't have a Wes Welker, Michael Crabtree, Danny Amendola, Taurean Henderson, or Joel Filani. We don't have a leader/qb/offensive coordinator on the field like Graham Harrell or B.J. Symons. I certainly believe that we have talented players who are playing their hearts out, but not one (on the offensive side) who is stepping it up. I really started feeling this way last year, but just attributed it post Harrell/Crabtree hangover. But now I'm really feeling that we are just don't have the type of player(s) (on the offensive side) who can/will cut through all the bull shit and just make plays.

All of this crap that we continue to suffer through (don't like the coach, don't like the system, don't like the traditions, don't like/agree on much of anything the new or old coach does or did) is just that, a bunch of crap and a cop out. The current over-analysis (IMO) of breaking down every play is giving me tired brain and in the end it just doesn't mean squat. The only things that matter to a Texas Tech team are offensive production (yards and points) and wins. But most importantly, it's about the Texas Tech player(s) that flush all of the bull shit and play lights out on every single snap. It's about making everyone wonder who are these guys, where did they come from, and when did they get so talented??

Yep, we've always done more with less, we always have the biggest chip on our shoulder and for the past 10 years we've been able to back it up on the field. I'm hoping that the current team can work it out and get back what's missing.
