Odessa High RB Bradley Marquez is absolutely pummeling West Texas defenses right now. Through four games, he's well over 1,200 total rushing yards. Tonight, he ran for over 370 yards on 23 carries against San Angelo Central on the road, carrying the Bronchos back from an early 14 point deficit. He also scored six touchdowns. Last week, he ran for 380 yards and six TDs against Amarillo Tascosa.
Marquez in on pace to finish with a 3,000 yard season, something that has only been done around 25 times in Texas history. Tonight, he shattered the record for the most rushing yards against a San Angelo Central defense – by over 50 yards. Whose record did he break? Cedric Benson's.
He was injured for his junior year, so he was recruited by Texas Tech entirely based on his impressive Sophomore campaign. Oklahoma was recruiting him, but the Sooners rescinded their offer after they received a commit another RB. Marquez runs somewhere between a 4.3 and a 4.4 forty. He can turn the corner on any high school defense, he runs to daylight well, can physically overpower defenders, and he has breakaway speed.
Considering how his senior campaign is going, Tech might have a commit from one of the very best running backs in the state.
