Recap: I was happy to find out that although the Red Raiders lost the third game, they won the series. It seems like a really long time since the team won a series and I can't help but think that this helps the team's confidence. From all accounts, Bobby Doran had a tremendous second game and Jamodrick McGruder led the offense, going 4-4 for the day, including a home run. LAJ's George Watson had this on Doran's performance:
"Doran did what he’s supposed to do," head coach Dan Spencer said. "He ran six great innings out there and kept us in the game. Kansas State kept fighting … and he made some good pitches, and in the seventh we broke it open. We’ve seen runs scored in our park all over the league. A lot of it is just trying to instill a killer instinct in our guys and we did a good job staying on the gas, scoring runs and kept scoring."
The game on Saturday wasn't great and it appears that after having a 5-0 lead, the pitching staff just couldn't contain the Kansas St. bats. LAJ's George Watson had this with Spencer on the game:
"We got some runs early and had them on their heels, I thought," Spencer said. "Then they score in the sixth and it kind of turned our deal a bit. It was the middle of the game but we just never were able to right the ship. We needed to peck away and get one back here and two back there and find someone to put up some zeros. We got a couple late but by then the damage was done."
And to top it all off, the team will travel to Las Vegas to take on UNLV for a mid-week two game series. I don't have to do any sort of preview, but here is where you can find the official preview and LAJ's George Watson.
