More Expansion Hypothesizing?

Stay connected for news and updates

Lets do a little hypothesizing. Lets say the Big 10 expands to 14 teams and takes Nebraska, Missouri and Pittsburgh. In all likelihood the Big 12 would do the smart thing and take schools like Utah, BYU, or Memphis to return itself to the Big 12. But lets take it a step further.

Lets say that the MWC decides to be incredibly proactive and takes the two Kansas schools (ignoring the irony of kansas being in the Mountain anything conference), and Boise State, dropping a weaker program like Colorado State to make room. Then the Pac-10 swoops in and takes both Colorado schools to become the Pac-12. Also, pretend we don't care what happens to Iowa State (Missouri Valley Conference powerhouse of the future?).

How do you feel about the newest "Super" Conference. Texas Athletic Conference! Or the TAC-10. Technically we'd have to steal schools from Oklahoma, but that is okay. The teams would be, UT, A&M, TTU, Baylor, UofH, Rice, UTEP, OU, OSU, Troy. Yes its only 10 teams. But just imagine with me for a moment. The TAC would essentially put an absolute deathgrip on all Texas and Oklahoma recruiting. The TAC would have a 30 million viewer fanbase just in those two states alone. Plus, the marketability of everything with the word Texas. No championship game, but who cares? All of the schools would get better recruiting, because more Texas athletes would stay at home. Plus, come on, who doesn't love the idea of the best conference in America being solely Texas run.
