Myers and Williams in Wonderland

This is comical ... Seth brought this quote to the front page from Kirk Bohls from the Austin American Statesman published around 5 pm CST on 12/9/10:

Texas Tech head football coach Tommy Tuberville has told school officials at Lubbock he will not pursue further the head coaching vacancy at the University of Miami, a highly placed official at a Big 12 school told the Statesman Thursday afternoon.

“I think he could get it,” the source said of the Miami job, “because he’s been there before (as an assistant from 1986-1993 and as defensive coordinator the final year). But he has shown no interest. They called and talked to him, but he didn’t want to visit with them.”

In an article written by Don Williams published four hours later at around 9 PM, Myers weighs in to confirm Bohls story as any logical person would think. But no ... suddenly those who are follow this story closely are whisked into Wonderland ... an alternate universe where the blue bloods of Tech Athletics reside and we get this gem:

Tech athletic director Gerald Myers said Thursday he didn’t know of any talks between Tuberville and Miami.

“He never mentioned it me,” Myers said. “I saw him in New York at the National Football Foundation banquet. He didn’t bring that up. I didn’t either. We talked about some other things — the bowl game, just visited about that mainly.

“Nobody’s called or asked permission to talk to him or anything like that.”

Tuberville did not immediately respond to a message left Thursday on his cell phone.

Opps! He didn't just say that ... but wait it gets better. Williams doesn't even ask Myers about Bohls' article. Rather he asked about two published reports out of Florida.

Two Florida newspapers reported Thursday that Texas Tech’s Tommy Tuberville was among a handful of coaches to whom University of Miami athletic director Kirby Hocutt had spoken about the vacant Hurricanes’ coaching job.

This is just too much fun to watch ... last year, now this year. What will they do for an encore next year?
