We have no HEART, we traded it for a suit and tie...Period end of story!
If you look in the past at schools that were doing poorly for a couple of years then brought in a new coach, and the new coach immediately excelled with the talent handed to him (the first two years)…
Iowa State; 2-10 before Paul Rhoades...7-6, 5-4
Nebraska; 5-7 before Bo Pelini...9-4, 10-4
Ole Miss; 3-9 before Houston Nutt… 9-4, 9-4
Baylor; 3-9 before Art Briles...4-8, 4-8
Houston; 5-7 before Art Briles...7-6, 3-8
Florida; 7-5 before Urban Myer…9-3, 13-1
Utah; 5-6 before Urban Myer…10-2, 12-0
Alabama; 6-7 before Nick Saban…7-6, 12-2
SMU; 1-11 before June Jones…1-11, 8-5
Michigan St; 4-8 before Mark Dantonio…7-6, 9-4
Oklahoma; 5-6 before Bob Stoops…7-5, 13-0
Texas; 4-7 Before Mack Brown…9-3, 9-5
Auburn; 5-7 Before Gene Chizik…8-5, 9-0
Just for the hell of it…
Texas tech 6-5 before Mike Leach…7-6, 7-5
Schools that have done well against national powers…
TCU; Gary Patterson...built the program from the ground up
Boise St; Chris Peterson...built the program from the ground up
Oregon; built the program from the ground up
To a response to Arizona Raiders post on Wanted: A Coach Who Can Put Together A Championship Staff...IMO comparing tech to the past 6 teams to play in the national championship game. ALL 6 OF THE TEAMS ARE NATIONAL POWERHOUSES WITH RICH TRADITIONS! I think you have to have some humility and know that you cannot compare tech to these schools. What you should be comparing to is schools like TCU, BOISE ST, BAYLOR, IOWA STATE, UTAH AND OREGON. Schools that have done well against the traditional national powers.
Texas' coaches have a lot of experience playing/coaching and they are having the same results. So you can throw that excuse out...
I blame it one thing, and one thing alone....
