New DL Coach from Recruiting Heaven

According to Footballscoop.com, Coach Tuberville is about to complete his staff by hiring Robert Prunty.  RRS is also reporting a teaser about a new DL coach being targeted, so putting 2 and 2 together to identify his role is rather simple.

Texas Tech:  We hear Hargrave Military coach Robert Prunty will be joining the staff.  We hear Troy Davis (current defensive coordinator) will be named the new head coach at Hargrave.

For those of you unfamiliar with Hargrave Military Academy and why such a hire is relevant, HMA is no New Mexico Military Institute.  From the school's website . . .

Hargrave's Post-Graduate Football program is not out to win. It is out to place. It is out to place your son in an NCAA qualified school, preferably D3 or better.

The program pushes students on the practice field, tests their character and leadership and, most importantly, gets them committed to their education. Hargrave’s dedicated faculty, staff and coaches work toward realizing your son’s dreams by teaching them self-discipline, hard work and dedication to their goals.

In other words, they take the multi-star recruits that cannot academically qualify and help them get their act together off the field.  The program seems to have enjoyed a bit of success in its mission.  During the Leach era (1999-2009), HMA produced SIX first-round draft picks.  According to Rivals, this year's crop has eight 4-stars and nineteen 3-stars . . . and that's a fairly typical year!  FYI: Time spent at the prep school does not count against the athlete's NCAA eligibility.
