Small City High School Football

Since there is no Tech games for a while I thought ya'll might enjoy these clips

I am an Abilene homer, so forgive me. Those of you who are from small Texas towns understand the cultural importance of high school football. ( I am the first to admit that it is way over glorified and in the long run not that important but to ignore it would be a mistake).

This is the Abilene High game from last week, you will get to see the SIMS, Ronell and Hershel, work over Arlington Bowie. Unfortunately you do not get to hear Al Picket do the color call, he is a gem. Chuck Statler is doing the play by play, if you met this guy in a Russian Airport you would know he was from Abilene as soon as he opened his mouth. It amazes me the amount of research these two guys do, they know the history of the opposing team, all their players names and stats. FSSW broadcast teams could learn from these two. The Dirty Bird is AHS's version of the wild cat, they borrowed the name from the Falcons.

AHS wlll be playing Klein in Waco this Saturday in the 5A state simifimals.

This is the Abilene Wylie game against Lucas Lovejoy. While not as perfectly played as the AHS game Wylie's final drive is as good as it gets in HS Football. The Radio Broadcast team is not nearly polished as the AHS guys but they are enthusiastic, and I have to admit they are doing their best.. Also they do not mention Case Keenum even once during this clip which is some kind of record. Wylie will be playing this Saturday against Gilmer at SMU Floyd Casey Stadium for the 3A State Championship.
